In a noteworthy moment following James Harden and P.J. Tucker's arrival in the Los Angeles area, they were warmly greeted by none other than Russell Westbrook, their former Houston Rockets teammate, with handshakes and embraces.
Despite the pending status of the proposed trade between the LA Clippers and the Philadelphia 76ers as of late Tuesday night in Los Angeles, Harden and Tucker received a heartfelt welcome from the Clippers right after disembarking from their SUV at the Crypto.com Arena loading dock.
Accompanied by Team President Lawrence Frank, both players were guided to the Clippers' locker room. Along the way, Clippers owner Steve Ballmer made a point to extend his greetings with handshakes to Harden and Tucker.
Reunion of Westbrook and Harden in the Locker Room
Inside the locker room, an awaited reunion unfolded as Russell Westbrook and James Harden, former teammates in both Oklahoma City and Houston, shared a lighthearted moment. Breaking away from his usual pregame routine and focused demeanor, Westbrook playfully suggested to Harden that he should take his new locker spot on the opposite side of the room, right across from Westbrook's own locker.In due course, P.J. Tucker and James Harden joined Westbrook and Paul George, engaging in an hour-long conversation before the LA Clippers took on the Orlando Magic on Tuesday night.
When questioned by a reporter about his level of excitement, James Harden responded with an emphatic, "You wouldn't believe it."
As he made his way through the locker room, Harden couldn't resist singing along to "You Dropped A Bomb On Me" by the Gap Band, which resonated from the nearby trainer's room.
Although the trade may not be officially finalized until Tuesday night, it's anticipated that both Harden and Tucker will not be in the lineup against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday.
Subsequent to that game, the Clippers have a four-day hiatus before embarking on a three-game road trip in New York, where they are poised to utilize this period as a condensed training camp for Harden and Tucker once the trade is officially confirmed.
Clippers head coach Ty Lue refrained from making any comments on the trade until it receives official approval.
